The traditional Défilé de la Saint-Patrick de Québec (Quebec City’s St. Patrick’s Day parade) takes place at 2 pm on Saturday, March 23, 2019. The parade route starts from St. Patrick’s High School and finishes at the Quebec City Hall.
Five renowned groups of pipes and drums will be on hand to celebrate the occasion:
Philadelphia Police and Fire Pipes and Drums;
Boston Police Gaelic Column of Pipes and Drums;
Pipes & Drums Of The Emerald Society of the New York City Police Department;
Pipes and Drums of the Chicago Police Department, and
Toronto Fire Services’ Pipes and Drums.
The Défilé de la Saint-Patrick de Québec parade offers a rare opportunity to see all these bands perform in the same event.
The Unité d’apparat du Service de police de la Ville de Québec (police ceremonial unit) will also join in the festivities, together with the RCMP Pipes & Drums – Montreal,and the pipe band of the 78th Fraser Highlanders, Olde Fort St. Andrew’s.A total of 12 brass bands will take part in this year’s parade, including for the second time, the Druméthiques de Québec.
Everyone is invited to celebrate our shared Irish heritage by dressing up in their best green finery!
